Libraries Change Lives Campaign
In the Summer of 2007, Stockton2020 launched the “Libraries Change Lives” Campaign, the country’s first youth-based library advocacy
movement.
What are our campaign goals?
- We believe that a state-of-the-art, world-class library system that centralizes the community’s resources is an essential building block to realizing this vision for a transformed city.
- We believe, as generations of Americans before us, that public libraries are a primary component of the quality of life in any
community. We believe that in order for our city’s revitalization to succeed, we need to make our libraries a priority. We believe that our neighborhoods are immeasurably strengthened when we establish state-of-the-art, world-class libraries in them. - We believe that a new state-of-the-art, world-class central library for Stockton and San Joaquin County could be the jewel in the crown of downtown revitalization, the heart and soul of our community, the city’s leading cultural and tourist destination, as well as our prime
educational and economic engine.
